New claim, new website, new features

RapidShare has completely redesigned its website and is taking off with numerous new features. After we kept the website simple and functional for years, from now on, our users will be met by a youthful and modern design. This is reflected on one hand by a visually attractive user interface. On the other, we have designed the website pages and content to be much better arranged and user friendly, and in addition, we have integrated a few new functions.

The most striking innovation has to be the introduction of RapidShare as an Anti-Waiting Company. What is behind this? Quite simply, it is the thought that waiting sucks, whether it lasts for a minute or half an hour. RapidShare wants to do something about this and has imagined something special for all its users: in the Anti-Waiting Lounge, users from now on can sweeten their waiting time and test themselves on various online games. We brought the old classic Cosmic Defender back to life for the launch of the Lounge. This will soon be followed by other cult games.

As an additional feature of the website, we are currently testing an application called RapidContact, thanks to which our users all around the world can come into contact with each other, get to know each other and communicate with each other. More information about this will be available in the coming weeks. We want to test the functionalities with selected users in a beta version first and work on the further development of the application with them.

An adjustment has also been made to our price structure. Following the introduction of RapidPro in July, we took three months to observe and evaluate the response of our users. The result: the prepaid model with the purchase of Rapids was overwhelmingly well received. However, many customers have expressed the wish that, when they purchase RapidPro, they should have a larger amount of disc space and traffic available to them than is the case at the moment. We are now making this wish come true: From this point on, every RapidPro user will receive five times the amount of disc space and traffic, i.e. 50 GB of storage and 150 GB of traffic every 30 days.
The costs are of course changing accordingly: 30 days of RapidPro now cost 495 Rapids. The smallest Rapid Package has 500 Rapids and costs 5.99 Euros. In addition, packages with 1,000, 2,000, 6,000 and 20,000 Rapids are available. Whoever activates RapidPro directly for 12 months receives the 12 months at the special price of 5,499 Rapids and is given VIP status. VIP customers will be favoured in future beta tests and receive invitation codes for RapidContact. As before, users can purchase additional traffic quotas on top of this, in 100 GB slices. 100 GB are charged per 280 Rapids.

Finding friends all over the world with RapidContact

With RapidContact we have added a tool to our new website which lets users get to know each other and communicate with each other. With this feature RapidShare makes the world a little smaller as from now on users can find other users with similar interests and come into contact with them, no matter where on earth they are. The seamless integration with RapidShare offers millions of people new and unprecedented communication possibilities.

On Thursday, October 7th, we will start with a beta version of RapidContact. At first, only RapidPro users with VIP status are eligible for the service. We will send participation codes to all VIP users on Thursday.

Together with the users we will then test all functionalities and develop the application further during the beta phase.

Those who want to be among the first users of RapidContact should make sure they are given the exclusive VIP status until Thursday. Users are granted VIP status when extending RapidPro for 12 x 30 days instead of a simple 30 days extension. In addition, users receive a 7 percent discount when deciding for this long-time extension of RapidPro.

RapidContact could not be easier: Users can find each other through a simple search. In every profile there is a field called "find me". If you enter the word "dancing", for example, in this field, then all other RapidContact users who search for "dancing" themselves can find and come in contact with you.

RapidShare introduces new MediaCenter and ContactBook

Moreover, we have completed RapidContact's beta phase. The service will be continued as ContactBook. The ContactBook allows users to identify other users with similar interests and to come into contact with them via chat or personal message, no matter where on earth they are. In every profile there is a field called "find me". If you enter the hobby "dancing", for example, in this field, then all other users who search for "dancing" themselves can find and come in contact with you. For an easy administration of your Contacts, they can be divided into categories.

 

We have integrated the feedback and the ideas of many users in the new ContactBook and would like to say thank you for this precious help. The most important change is probably that the Chat and the MediaCenter have been integrated into the tool bar. This allows users to use different services simultaneously. For example, you can now chat with several of your contacts while uploading files, listen to music, watch videos or manage your files at the same time.

  • Commission? Do I earn money now?

     

    No, the commission received by inviting friends is added as Rapids to your account, 28 days after your friend buys Rapids and activates RapidPro, if you have a minimum of 3 active friends. The commission is being paid for a maximum of 30 friends.

     

  • When exactly do I get the Rapids?

     

    28 days after your friend starts with RapidPro.

     

  • Are there any limits on the 'Invite Friends' program to avoid abuse?

     

    Lower limit: To receive the commission, at least 3 friends need to have activated RapidPro. 

    Upper limit: A maximum of 30 friends with RapidPro active at once is allowed. You can check your account overview to see how many friends currently have RapidPro active.

     

  • How can I refer a friend?

     

    There are several possibilities to add friends:

    1. You can send your friend an invitation email through the form you find at “My RapidShare”.
    2. Place a magic banner on your website. Why magic? Everyone who uses the banner will be saved as a referred by you. It can’t be more simple.
    3. Send your friend a RapidShare file.

     

  • How long will I receive Rapids from recruiting a friend?

     

    You will receive Rapids as long as your friends RapidPro is extended. If your friend continues to keep the account active for 5 years, you will receive up to 18’000 Rapids. Long friendship pays off.

     

  • Only for experts: Please explain to me exactly, how the internal process works.

     

    1. Your friend will be lead to our homepage by you. For this, there are a few ways but it is all about us being able to set an encrypted cookie, which lets us know that you referred this customer, when he registers a RapidPro account. The cookie works for seven days. After that it expires.

    2. Once a marked friend registers a free account, you will be marked in his account as the referrer. The 30-friends limit does not count here unless your friends activates RapidPro.

    3. Once this friend buys Rapids and activates RapidPro, our system will automatically check if you have 30 active friends. If not an entry is made into the commission-waiting list. If you already have 30 active friends, your limit has been reached and the connection between the two accounts will be cut. You are only able to have a maximum of 30 active friends at any time. However, when a friend does not extend their account, another friend who has received an invite from you will be moved up in the list.

    4. As soon as an entry in the waiting list has been there for 28 days, the system automatically checks if the account of your friend has been blocked due to a any payment issues. If the account is blocked, there will be no commission and the connection between the two accounts will be cut. If your friends account is fine, the system checks if you have 3 active friends with RapidPro. If that is the case, you will get 30 % commission. If not, you will not get any commission. However, the connection between the accounts remains.
